Nothing has improved the quality of new build homes more than the introduction of the CML inspection done by companies like the N.H.B.C.
When it was first introduced, it was very difficult to get a property to pass a CML inspection and easy to get it to a 'good enough' quality for somebody to move in.
Even though building regulations are constantly reviewed / amended and updated it is now the complete opposite. Customers expectations have risen a great deal and quality of workmanship has not followed suit.
There are lots of reasons for this but the main ones are that builders are not given sufficient time and recourses to do a quality job and that a lot of construction sites are run on a shoe string to save on costs.
Lots of things can and do get missed and corners are cut. When fire safety gets missed is when things start to get dangerous.
Feel free to take a look at our socials to get an understanding of the severity of some things we find that gets passed by a building inspector as 'good enough' for somebody to move into.
The N.H.B.C. do a fantastic job in circumstances that are not very easy to work in and have lots of great literature for us to work with.
The links bellow can be very helpful to let you know what is covered and what the builders should be doing.
